Frequently Asked Questions

What is staging?

Home Staging is the preparation to sell a home by a trained professional who specializes in understanding the buyer demographic, rules of design, and real estate market.

Why should I stage?

Staging is about the phsychology of a home, how it makes potential buyers feel immediately when entering the front door.  If a home is cluttered, dark, outdated, or needs many repairs, a buyer will have a difficult time imagining themselves living there.  Although they may not realize it, buyers want to find a home they feel will make their lives easier, organized, sophisticated, and stress free.  They want to imagine themselves hosting fabulous parties or spending lazy Sundays drinking coffee and reading a good book in the sun.  It sounds a bit far-fetched, but it's reality.

The average cost of staging a home is still far less than the typical price reduction of a home.  For a minimal investment, staging can be the difference between selling a home quickly and for top dollar, versus spending months on the market with costly price reductions.

My house looks good enough, why can't buyers just see the potential?

We can provide you a fresh, unbiased opinion on what needs to be done by walking you through the staging process step by step.   A professional stager can make the process of selling much less stressful.

We know there are many reasons people don't want to stage.
  • Perhaps you're selling the family home where you've created countless fond memories and it's hard to let go.
  • Or, you've already found the home of your dreams and you just want to move on and forget about your "old" house.
  • It could be as simple as knowing changes need to be made to sell, but it just seems too overwhelming or  expensive.

Whatever your situation, remember that part of staging is editing and packing items that are not necessary for the sale of your home.  Eventually, everything must be packed, so why not get a head start?

Can I afford Staging?

It's more cost effective for sellers to invest in staging than it is to lower the price of the home.  The average cost of staging a home is 1-3% of the property's value according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR).  A two-hour staging consultation typically starts at $150.  The real question is, what is the cost of not staging your home?
